A modern online presence to increase brand awareness and online bookings

Overview

 

Bringing together crowd-pleasing classics from China, Thailand, Vietnam and more, ChopShop is a pan asian restaurant that cooks fresh on site every day. On opening a new restaurant they required a digital solution to provide online bookings and increase their band awareness.

 

My Role.

I was responsible for all initial research, information architecture, wireframes, concepts, design and prototyping.

The Outcome.

A bold, strongly branded, confident but user-friendly web presence that stands out from the competition and increased brand awareness and the ability to process more bookings.

 

The Challenge.

With the opening of a new restaurant in east London, Chopshop needed a fully responsive website that would stand out from their competition whilst increasing brand awareness and provide a simple and easy to use process for making online bookings.

 

The Approach

 

1 — Research

Concentrating on a user-centric approach, research was carried out to identify users key objectives.

Analysis of the research showed users should be able to quickly and easily:

  • Reserve a table

  • Find exact details about the menu and prices

  • Discover clear information about the venue to plan their trip

  • Navigate the site on mobile devices

2 — Process

Using the key objectives identified from the research as cornerstones for the information architecture and navigation, an iterative process of wireframing and user testing was carried out before progressing to design.

3 — Brand Design

With branding in place, we used the existing logo and colour palette with newly shot photography, modern illustration and clear typography to create an image rich design. We created a clean, bold and modern feel, with a friendly tone and a UI that was easy to scan quickly through important information.

4 — Mobile Devices

A mobile-first approach to the design was taken after the research phase highlighted this platform as the most used when making a booking.

5 — Navigation

Prominent features for navigation included viewing menu, booking a table and when the restaurant was open.
